EOCCS: Empowering ISIL next-level online education
Since 2020, ISIL has been part of a network of institutions committed to excellence in online education, thanks to the EOCCS certification awarded by EFMD.
This certification, which was renewed in 2023, has been a catalyst for a significant transformation in our virtual teaching methodologies. It has not only challenged us to meet high-quality standards but has driven profound improvements that benefited our entire academic community.
Migrating to a more flexible and adaptable platform
One of the fundamental changes was the transition to Moodle as our new learning management system (LMS). We opted for this platform because of its adaptability, which allows us to respond to the demands of modern online education. Moodle makes it easier for us to offer a more interactive and personalised process, contributing to improving the experience of our students.
“Always on”: constantly evolving content
To keep the content aligned with current trends, we reinforced the “Always on” approach, our methodology for permanently updating courses. This renewed approach, which incorporates the active participation of our faculty in the process, has streamlined the way we integrate academic innovations and pedagogical suggestions. We have managed to enhance the relevance of our courses, ensuring that each update adds value and improves learning.
Synchronous and asynchronous: a strategic balance
To foster comprehensive learning and nurture students’ connection with ISIL, we established a balance between synchronous and asynchronous sessions in our online classes. This combination allows students to learn at their own pace while also benefiting from real-time interaction, an evolution that has improved both learning and student engagement with the institution.
Student feedback: a key tool for continuous improvement
Our focus on the student experience has been strengthened with new feedback collection processes. Student feedback is vital to identifying areas for improvement and allows us to implement changes that truly impact their learning experience. Listening and acting on their needs reinforces our responsibility to them.
Collaboration and participation in the virtual classroom
Finally, we have enriched the collaborative and participatory elements of the courses. An action that encourages students to actively engage, promoting collaborative learning and the construction of shared knowledge. These elements foster an environment in which students end up being co-creators of their own educational experience.
The EOCCS certification and its recent renewal have been much more than an administrative achievement; it has been an opportunity to redefine and reinforce our commitment to excellence in online education. We will continue to build on this foundation to offer our students an increasingly enriching, relevant and transformative educational experience.
