Marketing 4.0: Leveraging social media to drive customer engagement and brand loyalty
The digital renaissance has completely transformed the facets of marketing, and it is now Marketing 4.0.
The rise of social media has encouraged consumers and changed the way brands share information with (and vice versa) their customers. Social media marketing influences the ability of marketers to communicate with the target market, build brand loyalty and produce business growth (Anjorin et al., 2024) because it is readily accessible as it has never been before.
Social networks are a force in effective, cutting-edge marketing, and the marketing landscape of today demands this type of capability for communication and engagement between brand and audience. With the use of social media, companies can generate personalised content and engage with the customer, which is supposed to create a deep emotional relationship between sellers and buyers (Krisprimandoyo et al., 2024).
The literature has confirmed that social media marketing positively influences brand loyalty, customer satisfaction, and purchase intention of customers (Zhu, 2024). Strong social media tactics can boost brand awareness and customer loyalty through quality content, regular posts, interactive elements, and more.
The mediating role of customer engagement
Customer interaction is at the core of a successful social media marketing strategy. Customers who are engaged with the brand have a sense of loyalty and advocacy to it (Krisprimandoyo et al., 2024).
Through customer engagement with social media, brands can gain trust and improve their brand reputation, which results in greater consumer loyalty (Susanti, 2023). Student loyalty and performance outcomes are enhanced by encouraging two-way communication, low levels of conflict, and fulfilling brand infusion on social media.
The importance of content and interactivity
The type and quality of the content provided on social platforms can have a major impact on customer engagement, product trial, and brand loyalty. Engaging and entertaining content catered to your audience will help drive engagement and build customer loyalty, and the amount of interaction on social media sites is very important to generate customer engagement and loyalty.
Brands that enable UGC (user-generated content), instigate instant communication and promote social sharing will be able to attract, retain and increase customer interaction.
In the Marketing 4.0 age, companies are experimenting with new social media to be included in their loyalty programs (Zhang & Li, 2022). If they include a social media twist in their customer loyalty plans, businesses will be able to maximise engagement with their audience and further solidify loyalty to the brand.
In addition, social CRM that incorporates the use of social media within a firm’s CRM initiatives have been shown to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty (Zhang & Li, 2022). Social media provides brands with an opportunity to learn from and interact with customers to be able to customise offerings, enrich the quality of services, and establish long-term relationships (Kovač & Žabkar, 2020).
Conclusion
In the age of Marketing 4.0, social media has emerged as a powerful tool for brands to engage with their customers, build brand loyalty, and drive business growth. By using strategic social media marketing initiatives that prioritise content quality, interactivity, and the integration of loyalty programs and CRM, companies can cultivate deep, meaningful connections with their target audience. Embracing the transformative potential of social media will be crucial for brands seeking to thrive in the modern marketing landscape.
