Trinity Business School scholarships remove barriers to champion talent

For most students, attending university requires the right combination of personal ambition and ability to access it.

For Trinity College Dublin student Piotr Filipek, the Trinity College Foundation Scholarship represented academic recognition as well as the pathway that made higher education possible.

“The only way that I could afford college,” Piotr said of the scholarship, which provides successful students with great academic achievement with accommodation, meals and tuition support for five years.

Piotr, who is studying Global Business at Trinity Business School, was one of two Kildare students awarded the prestigious scholarship after exceptional performances in a series of demanding examinations. Fellow recipient Sophie Morrissey, studying Philosophy, Politics, Economics and Sociology, also earned the award following outstanding results.

Their stories highlight the importance of scholarships in providing financial support for academic excellence.

When institutions widen opportunity and support talented students from diverse backgrounds, they enhance both educational outcomes and the strength of the learning environment. Students who enter higher education through scholarship programmes often bring different perspectives, experiences and ambitions into classrooms. For business education in particular, this diversity of viewpoints can help create rounded future leaders capable of navigating complex global challenges.

For Sophie, the scholarship has provided an opportunity to explore academic interests in greater depth, from political theory to questions around democracy and society. She hopes to continue in academia, building on the curiosity and critical thinking developed through her studies.

Piotr hopes to pursue further postgraduate study and eventually contribute through areas such as entrepreneurship, non-profit work or research.

Their journeys demonstrate that investment in students is also an investment in future impact.
