Business school graduate turns smartphones into AI study companions
Docsity has recently launched the Docsity AI app, which transforms learning materials (audio, photos, videos, links, lectures, charts, notes) into effective study resources through the use of AI.
Founded by Riccardo Ocleppo in 2010, Docsity is an online note-sharing and collaborative learning platform for business school, university, and upper secondary school students, based on a progressive points system designed to foster community engagement. Today, Docsity records around 200,000 daily users, with an active student community that has shared approximately seven million study documents in nine languages.
Ocleppo completed the MSc in Management at London Business School and a Master’s at INSEAD, and credits his business education for its significant impact on his entrepreneurial journey.
“I enrolled at LBS to complement my technical background with business and management acumen, as I always knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur. There, I met great professors and fellow students who significantly impacted my personal and professional growth,” said Ocleppo, CEO.
“Six years later, I pursued the Executive Master’s in ‘Value Creation for Owners and Directors’ at INSEAD. This programme was a valuable lens through which to understand the intricacies of business ownership and leadership.”
To further support students in their studies, Docsity launched the Docsity AI app, which is capable of capturing, organising, and transforming study materials, e.g., in-class lectures and notes, into online videos.
Students can record a lecture, scan a handout page, upload a document or a YouTube link, and the app processes the material and creates clear transcripts, summaries, interactive concept maps, structured notes or even personalised flashcards to simulate exams and tests. The goal is not only to speed up studying, but to make it more manageable through smart technology.
Inclusion is also a core focus: through collaboration with tutors and teachers specialised in neurodiversity, the app has been designed with accessibility in mind, with features that support students with ADHD or learning disabilities.
“With Docsity AI, we want to demonstrate that artificial intelligence is not a substitute for students, but an ally capable of simplifying and optimising the learning journey. Our guiding objective has always been to put technology at the service of people: helping students better organise their time, focus on core concepts, and experience studying in a calmer and more effective way. In this sense, AI becomes an integral part of the daily life of the 2025 student, enhancing their abilities and making learning more accessible, personalised, and engaging,” said Paolo Muoio, COO of Docsity.
Docsity has been working side by side with students for the past 16 years, supporting them in sharing knowledge, completing their studies, and preparing for their next steps. With Docsity AI, smartphones become true study companions, evolving with students’ needs and demonstrating how AI can make learning more human and stimulating.
