Corporate Roundtable

The first-ever EFMD Corporate Learning Roundtable in Latin America was hosted by UCIC, the CLIP-accredited Corporate University of Intercorp Group, on September 18 and 19 in Lima, in parallel to EFMD’s Annual Americas conference.

The Roundtable brought together a dozen learning leaders from Peru, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador and Argentina to discuss current trends and challenges.

As EFMD’s Director of Corporate Services and the EFMD Corporate Learning Improvement Process (CLIP), I had the honour of kicking off the event with a keynote on how to future-proof businesses in a world of constant change and technological revolution. Analysing the forces at play that have been shaping our world of work, I proposed an enhanced understanding of leadership, learning and transformation.

He also pointed out UCIC’s innovative application of AI tools along the learning value chain. Intercorp Group is a large Peruvian holding company with businesses in financial services, retail, hospitality, education and health.

In the afternoon, participants discussed how to:

  1. Effectively build future skills with limited resources
  2. Create an inclusive learning culture,
  3. Orchestrate the Human-AI interface
  4. Develop agile mindsets. These topics were agreed upon before as of the highest interest.

Following an interactive session on how to ground business schools in corporate reality, Ivan Hererro, Chief Data Officer of Intercorp Group, delivered a fascinating closing keynote on how AI is transforming businesses and our world of work.

His observation that augmentation leads to automation, which enables innovation that fuels growth, led to the conclusion that context knowledge will be king for augmentation and that it will become imperative to ramp it up early on within junior talent. It will become increasingly important for the education sector to incorporate practical experience into the educational process.

The EFMD LatAm Corporate Learning Roundtable provided a valuable opportunity to learn from and with one another on how to prepare organisations and their workforces for the next era of work. A great thank you to our host, UCIC, and to all participants who made their way to Lima.
