The Wharton School and INSEAD are proud to co-host the fourth annual Responsible Research Summit. It will be held on Wharton’s Philadelphia campus from 6-7 June 2022.   The Summit aims to provide insights into how to encourage more business school researchers to address issues that have an impact and improve social well-being—what are some of the hurdles and to overcome the obstacles. Exemplar responsible research conducted by business school academics will also be celebrated.

Responsible Research in Business and Management (RRBM) is a cross-disciplinary organisation that encourages and fosters rigorous and relevant business school research that leads to the fruition of meaningful social impact. As with previous RRBM Summits, global participation is expected.

This year’s notable agenda will feature a variety of distinguished speakers from a broad spectrum of disciplines and a variety of stakeholders of the business research ecosystem as the challenge of reforming the system will require the alignment of all (Deans, Faculty, Business, Association and Accreditation Agency leaders, editors, …).

  • Eleven deans from universities across North America, Europe, and Asia, will participate in discussions that champion social impact, identify some of the challenges and share some of their accomplishments.
  • The Head of the PRME and of the UN Global Compact will have a session dedicated to the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within business and management research.
  • The two co-founders of B Lab, a nonprofit network transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet will share the story of the B Corp Movement, which seeks to change our economic system by creating policies, tools, and programs that shift the behaviour, culture, and structural underpinnings of capitalism. B Corp provides ratings of companies as to their social impact and policies that could help business schools better assess their social impact.
  • Sally Susman, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and Executive Vice President of Pfizer Foundation, will explain how this charitable organization founded by Pfizer, Inc., provides coordinated support for disaster and humanitarian relief and recovery efforts around the world and supports programs that address the challenges of a complex and evolving global health landscape.
  • Andrew Jack, Global Education Editor at the Financial Times, will lead a segment on “Exemplar Impact Research” by business school academics with leading authors of articles that were awarded the first “FT Responsible Business Education Awards” in the category “Academic Research with Impact”.
  • The Summit also will feature a Fireside Chat with editors from notable journals, such as Administrative Science Quarterly, Journal of Marketing Research, Manufacturing & Service Operations, and Journal of Public Policy & Marketing.

At the end of the Summit, as it has now become the tradition for Responsible Research Summits, participants will together commit to actionable engagement toward RRBM’s common goals.
