Shaping tomorrow together: What to expect at the 2025 EFMD Global Americas Annual Conference

2025 EFMD Global Americas Annual Conference

Business education stands at a crossroads. Uncertainty, disruption, and rapid change are now constants.

One thing is clear: the key challenges facing business schools cannot be tackled in isolation. These institutions are embedded in both regional contexts and global systems. Their future will depend on how effectively they collaborate across sectors, disciplines, and borders.

Our guiding question

How can we move beyond silos and focus on shared priorities — so that business schools can strengthen their role across education, industry, and society?

This is at the core of all the sessions at the 2025 EFMD Global Americas Annual Conference, held this year from 17 to 19 September in Lima, hosted by CENTRUM PUCP.

Navigating Complexity in the Global Marketplace

The opening keynote features Luis Alfonso Carrera, the Head Manager of Business and Corporate Clients at Banco de Crédito (BCP), discussing the impact of the global economy and geopolitics on business education and practice. As international politics shift, business schools across the Americas grapple with staying relevant and adapting to these fundamental changes. This opening session sets the stage for deeper discussions about working together to navigate an increasingly complex global landscape.

Fostering Interdisciplinary Collaboration

This year, our theme is exploring how business schools can serve as catalysts for multidisciplinary innovation. We have assembled a panel of business leaders from across the Americas to share concrete examples and practical insights for fostering collaborations that break down traditional academic boundaries. In an era where the most pressing challenges require interdisciplinary solutions, business schools have a great opportunity to be leaders of progress and change.

Highlight: Perspectives from Industry

In collaboration with EFMD Corporate Services, a panel composed of select participants of the EFMD Latin America Corporate Learning Roundtable will reflect on industry changes, talent acquisition and development, and their evolving expectations from business schools in the era of artificial intelligence. This session provides crucial insights into how academic institutions can better align their programs with industry needs to prepare students and graduates to be more agile and support them in navigating their careers.

We close with a plenary from Iván Herrero Bartolomé, Chief Data Officer of Grupo Intercorp, who will discuss the opportunity space that Artificial Intelligence opens for organisations, not only in terms of automation and augmentation, but also for innovation and growth. He will speak about initiatives at Intercorp and close with a personal outlook on the future of AI and how it will change the nature of work, leadership, and client experience.
