The Essentials of Teaching and Learning (ETL) – Bringing purpose and impact to teaching
In today’s higher education environment, teaching is increasingly complex, with faculty adapting to evolving student needs and technologies while having limited time to reflect on the foundations of their practice.
While many development initiatives focus on tools and techniques, fewer create space to explore purpose, coherence, and long-term impact in learning. The Essentials of Teaching and Learning (ETL) was designed to address this need.
ETL is an international faculty development programme rooted in the International Teachers Programme (ITP) tradition and developed within the ISBM consortium, which consists of 12 leading global business schools, London Business School, INSEAD, SDA Bocconi, CEIBS, HEC Paris, IMD Lausanne, Indian School of Business, IAE Aix-Marseille, Kellogg School of Management, Stockholm School of Economics, MIT Sloan School of Management and Vlerick Business School, and is supported by EFMD.
ETL is relevant for faculty who:
- seek to reconnect with meaning and intentionality in their teaching
- wish to engage students more deeply and thoughtfully
- value reflection, dialogue, and experiential learning
- are open to evolving their practice while maintaining academic rigour
The programme is delivered through four interactive online sessions, allowing faculty to reflect, apply insights in their own classrooms, and return for shared learning and discussion.
To explore ETL in more detail, the programme directors will host an online Sneak Preview session on 26 February 2026. The session will present the intent, structure, and learning approach of the programme, and provide space for open discussion and questions.

Practical Information
- Who can participate: Business school faculty, as well as educational leaders involved in teaching and learning.
- Time commitment: Four – 4 hours – sessions via Zoom, time zone friendly from 2PM to 6PM Central European Time.
- Conducted in English
- Certification: Participants receive a certificate of completion upon successful participation in the programme.

Fees and registration
The fee for the Essentials of Teaching of Learning is 600€
If your institution is sending more than one faculty, we will apply the discounts below:
- 2 faculty for 1100€ (instead of 1200€)
- 3 faculty for 1600€ (instead of 1800€)
- 4 faculty for 2100€ (instead of 2400€)
