Addressing the school’s achievement, BSIS Director François Bonvalet remarked:
“FGV EAESP exemplifies in the long run, how a business school can root itself in its local context while achieving global relevance. The school’s continued commitment to ethical leadership, academic excellence, and societal progress—particularly through its impactful research centres and inclusive approach to education—demonstrates a clear and growing contribution to Brazil’s development. We are pleased to renew the BSIS label for an institution that fully embraces the spirit of impact at the heart of its strategy.”
Fundação Getulio Vargas – Escola de Administração de Empresas de São Paulo (FGV EAESP)
Initially accredited by EQUIS in 2001, FGV EAESP is one of Brazil’s leading business schools, founded in 1954 with support from Michigan State University and a network of Brazilian business leaders. As part of Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), a top-ranked global think tank, the school upholds a mission to advance knowledge in administration for business, government, and civil society while promoting Brazil’s socio-economic development. With a faculty of 145 full-time members and over 43,000 alumni, FGV EAESP is known for its academic excellence and strong ties with the professional world.
The school has a comprehensive academic offering that spans undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, and executive education programs in business and public administration. Its portfolio includes pioneering programs such as the traditional Business and Public Administration degrees, specialised executive master’s degrees in areas like Finance, Health, and Innovation, and internationally oriented programs such as the OneMBA and the Master’s in International Management. It also maintains a long-standing commitment to social inclusion, with a student loan fund supporting over 25,500 students since 1965.
FGV EAESP is widely recognised for its research leadership, with 20 applied research centres that foster collaboration between academia and practice. Internationalisation is another hallmark: the school maintains 130 global partnerships, offers 24 dual-degree programs, and holds the “triple crown” of business education accreditations—AACSB, EQUIS, and AMBA. It is also a member of prominent networks such as GNAM, PIM, CEMS, and COBS, reinforcing its role as a globally connected and impactful institution.
Excellence in education and societal engagement
The BSIS experts commended FGV EAESP for its strong and growing educational and societal impact. They highlighted the school’s successful efforts to attract students from across Brazil, reflecting a broader national footprint. The doctoral programs were particularly recognised for their contribution to academic life and to business education throughout the country.
The experts also praised the school’s dynamic program portfolio, which is responsive to market needs, and its active engagement of alumni in educational initiatives. Efforts to promote gender balance – especially within the MBA program – were noted as meaningful and replicable achievements.
In terms of societal impact, the school was celebrated for deeply integrating social responsibility, ethics, and sustainability into research, education, and management practices. The experts noted a genuine and widespread commitment among faculty and staff to promote positive societal change, particularly through applied research centres like Health Planning and Management Study Centre (FGVsaúde), Centre for Ethics, Transparency, Integrity and Compliance Studies (FGVethics), and Centre for Sustainability Studies (FGVces). These centres lead impactful projects on public health, compliance in medical education, and sustainable development, including immersive fieldwork in the Amazon.
Luiz Brito, the Dean of FGV EAESP, commented:
“Participating in the BSIS assessment gave us a valuable chance to reflect on how FGV EAESP is making a real difference in education, research, and society at large. We were encouraged by the recognition of our progress and, at the same time, challenged to go further, especially in expanding our national and international reach. The experts’ recommendations will help guide our next steps, and we’re committed to using this momentum to deepen our impact, together with our students, faculty, administrative staff, alumni, and partners.”
About BSIS
The Business School Impact System (BSIS) is the first comprehensive impact assessment tool for business schools, covering more than 130 indicators across seven dimensions of impact. It provides a tailor-made data collection system for monitoring, assessing, and developing the impact of business schools.
The BSIS process involves the definition of the impact zone and institutional scope, data collection, impact assessment, and the report with recommendations for future development. Demonstrating the school’s impact on internal and external stakeholders, the system serves as a communication and negotiation tool externally and fosters an impact culture within the school. Schools that undergo BSIS are awarded the BSIS Label for a three-year period.
- There are currently more than 90 schools across 25 countries that have received the BSIS label.
