EDHEC Business School participates in BBC film series

EDHEC

EDHEC Business School is proud to announce its participation in a first-of-its-kind online film series, Leader Generation, produced by BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions and now streaming on BBC.com.

The film series, which spotlights 18 campuses around the globe, illustrates how business schools are equipping future leaders with the skills and sensitivities to rethink, reimagine, and rebuild business for a better tomorrow. EDHEC, ranked a Top 10 European business school by the Financial Times for a third consecutive year in 2024, is one of two French and four European schools featured in the series.

“EDHEC’s film highlights the efforts of our professors, students, and alumni to solve some of this century’s biggest problems—climate crises, social changes, health disparities, and economic instability,” said EDHEC Dean Emmanuel Métais, who appears in the film. “At EDHEC, we’re determined to make a positive impact on future generations. We’re excited about the great things our community is already accomplishing and can’t wait to see what our students and grads will do next.”

EDHEC alum Aziz Kaouech (MSc Risk and Finance, 2018; EDHEC Entrepreneurs, 2023; and co-founder of sustainable startup Dooda) and Associate Professor Thomas B. Long, who specializes in sustainable and net positive business strategies and models, are featured in EDHEC’s film. Kaouech travelled with a film crew to his home country of Tunisia to capture footage at Dooda’s production site. The company uses beetle larvae to create sustainable and healthy animal food and distributes its products in Europe. The company employs Tunisians and strengthens Africa’s economy.

EDHEC’s film also shows Kaouech interacting with MSc in Entrepreneurship and Innovation students as part of his duties as a lecturer on the school’s Lille campus. Kaouech works with Long on case studies that help students understand the challenges of launching a sustainable startup and creating responsible business models that alleviate poverty and provide alternative food sources. The film showcases EDHEC campuses in Paris and STATION F, the world’s largest startup campus.

EDHEC’s strategic plan, Generations 2050, launched last year, calls for 270M€ of investment in education, research, and campus improvements—all aimed at boosting sustainable and net-positive businesses in Europe and around the globe. EDHEC teaches all students—from bachelors to executives—how to lead the net-positive transition, and it is set to open a net-positive business centre later this year. The mission of this centre will be to accompany companies in their move to more sustainable and responsible business models and to produce research and case studies to help students become net-positive leaders in their careers and communities.

The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), a global standard-setting body for business education, partnered with BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions to create the online series. All the schools featured in the series offer business and management degree programmes accredited by AACSB. The series explores holistic business education and transformative learning frameworks that help students acquire relevant and valuable skills. It also shows how business schools create opportunities for under-represented students and celebrates educators as a force for good.
