We’re stronger together

Dear EFMD Members, dear Friends,

Clearly, it has been a challenging year for all of us, strategically and operationally, physically and emotionally.

Never before have we had to consider the well-being of our employees, communities and partners so deeply. Never before have we had to measure every word in our communication and felt its immediate impact on our stakeholders. Never before have we had to embrace fluid and agile leadership to such an extent, pursue vertiginous decision-making cycles, or resort to intuition rather than deliberate data-backed strategies.

And yet we have persevered, we have reinvented ourselves, and we have strengthened our missions and our cultures. We have stayed focused.

Innovation has always been at the core of management development and business education. This year, we have kept doing what we have always done, and we have done what we have never done, all at the same time. We have transformed ourselves.

EFMD is about improving quality and striving towards excellence. EFMD is about making a positive impact on society through research and practice. EFMD is about fostering responsible and purpose-led organisations. But first and foremost, EFMD is a community of diverse actors who want to collaborate, learn and advance the management profession in an increasingly globalised and complex environment.

As we are approaching the end of the year, I would like to thank our network, every one of you, and in particular, our volunteers, board members, peer review team members, steering committee members, speakers, moderators, thought-leadership contributors, partners and collaborators for your unceasing commitment and trust.

In these tumultuous times, we want to continue to support our members, helping you to stay engaged and connected while providing a global platform to share knowledge and ideas, and continue the learning and development process.

I also want to thank those who contribute so much to the success of our network, namely our staff and consultants. We have been fortunate and deliberate in our effort to not only avoid redundancies but develop new offerings, such as the virtual careers fairs and bespoke webinars during this challenging period.

I sincerely hope you are all well and that you and your families are healthy and safe. I hope you will have a restful break at the end of the year, and I look forward to seeing you very soon, whether virtually or, once again, in real life.

With warm personal regards,
Prof. Eric Cornuel
President, EFMD Global
