Three schools have their programmes accredited EPAS

We are happy to announce that the EPAS accreditation board has recently awarded EPAS Accreditation to:

The School of Business, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies

The Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Rijeka

ESDES, Lyon Catholic University

Congratulating the schools on their recent success, Alfons Sauquet, Quality Services & EQUIS Director at EFMD said: “Congratulations to all the institutions for the excellent work they are doing through their programmes. Thanks to their continued commitment, they contribute to the enhancement of management education. We are happy to accompany them on their journey towards excellence.”

The EFMD programme accreditation system is a rigorous tool for assessing, certifying and improving the quality of business school programmes. Such accreditation can help bring greater clarity and recognition to all stakeholders in terms of what constitutes an internationally recognised and peer-reviewed programme.

Zhu Wenzhong, Dean of the School of Business, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, commented: “As the dean of the School of Business, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, I’d like to say that we feel so excited and grateful for the good news of the EPAS accreditation of our Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programme. We feel so delighted and lucky that our BBA programme is accredited by EPAS and will then enjoy such a valuable exchange and improvement networking platform for our management education. We really appreciate the EFMD and EPAS Peer Review Team for offering us so many valuable suggestions and guidance for the quality improvement and future development of our BBA programme. According to the standards and criteria, we will be continuously and strongly committed to realising our vision and mission with the SMILE value (Social Responsibility, Mutual Respect, Integrity, Learning by Doing, Entrepreneurship) so as to turn out high-end international business professionals with distinctive features, satisfying the need of economic globalisation.”

The Guangdong programme has four fundamental components: professional knowledge, cross-cultural skills, practical skills and social responsibility which are transmitted to students through two main modes; internationalisation and networking. These components contribute to the objective of the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Bachelor of Business Administration, to offer students a broad and solid business education. This sound foundation is designed to enhance students’ ability to apply business theories to the real-world business problem while keeping a strong sense of social responsibility as well as a sustainable development philosophy.

The Bachelor International Business of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Rijeka is a good programme offering students opportunities for internships and study abroad. Students receive excellent individualised support thanks to the committed faculty. The programme also combines a solid research culture with strong collegial values and excellent student placement.

“The goal of accreditation is to ensure that the education provided by the institution meets an exceptional level of quality. EPAS accreditation is an assurance of our commitment to ongoing improvement,” commented Alen Host, Dean of the University of Rijeka, Faculty of Economics and Business.

The mission of ESDES is “to prepare students and professionals, through Research and Education, to create sustainable value and to promote the emergence of a responsible economy in a digital and globalised world” and this is well reflected in its 5-year integrated Master in Management programme. The programme showcases a strong commitment to ERS and developing responsible managers, while its programme objectives and the eight Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs) are well defined, and the curriculum rationale is coherent. Students’ personal and professional development is a particular strength of the programme and students enjoy numerous opportunities for language and experiential learning alongside internships in the corporate and not-for-profit sector.

“This accreditation has been achieved thanks to the efforts made by administrative staff and teachers since 2016. EPAS accreditation will enhance the attractiveness of the ESDES Grande École Program on an international scale and should quickly change the appearance of our campuses. From September 2020, we will welcome more foreign students, which will strengthen the multicultural atmosphere,” commented Olivier Maillard, Dean of ESDES, Lyon Catholic University.

EPAS was launched in 2005 and in those fourteen years has had a considerable impact on the quality of business schools’ programmes all over the world. There are currently 122+3 EPAS-accredited programmes on offer at 89 +2 schools across 35 countries. For more information on EPAS, visit
