ISIAM Business School first in Morocco to be awarded BSIS label for positive impact
We are pleased to announce that ISIAM Business School has successfully completed the EFMD Business School Impact System (BSIS) assessment process and has been granted its first BSIS label. ISIAM is the first institution in Morocco and only the third in Africa to receive this recognition.
The BSIS evaluation team highlighted several key strengths, including the school’s strong regional influence, integration of digital learning, and commitment to entrepreneurship, sustainability, and community engagement.
Addressing the school’s achievement, BSIS Director François Bonvalet remarked:
“Located in a dynamic region of Morocco, ISIAM Business School has demonstrated a genuine capacity to generate meaningful economic and social value within its region while maintaining a clear international orientation. The institution’s focus on employability, entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning, reflects a deep commitment to both its students and its broader community. It pays also attention to be accessible to all students with a good academic record, regardless their social back ground. This first BSIS label for the school and in Morocco, recognises ISIAM’s impact and its strategic vision for continued development within the kingdom and beyond.”
ISIAM Business School
ISIAM Business School, established in 1989 and situated in Agadir, Morocco, is a leading institution in management education. As part of Universiapolis, it offers a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in fields such as marketing, finance, human resources, logistics, and digital transformation.
The school adopts a North American pedagogical approach, emphasising practical skills and competency-based learning. With a faculty of over 70 professors, including 30 international experts, ISIAM serves more than 900 students from 18 countries. It also provides opportunities for international mobility through partnerships with universities in France and Canada.
Lifelong learning and professional advancement
ISIAM Business School of Universiapolis was awarded the EFMD BSIS label in recognition of its demonstrable impact across multiple dimensions of academic, social, and regional engagement. The BSIS review team commended the school’s clarity of mission, which, since its founding, has focused on forming responsible, innovative managers while maintaining strong regional roots and an international outlook. Its affiliation with Universiapolis, a Moroccan state-recognised private university, further strengthens the institution’s credibility.
Academically, ISIAM offers a high-impact educational experience that fully integrates digital technology through modern tools, including Moodle, trading rooms, academic platforms, a digital library, and foreign language learning. This innovative approach enables students to develop practical skills aligned with current market demands. The experts recognised the school’s balanced portfolio of programmes spanning undergraduate to doctoral levels, alongside an extensive continuing education offering.
The strong employability rate of its graduates (around 80%) stands out in a national context marked by high graduate unemployment. Its use of digital tools and focus on applied learning contribute to a distinctive educational experience. The school’s regional reach is notable: it holds a near-monopoly on management education in southern Morocco, extending its influence through a new campus and robust partnerships.
The BSIS experts highlighted ISIAM’s emphasis on lifelong learning and professional advancement. Evening degree programmes enable working professionals to pursue further studies, while certifications in fields such as Microsoft tools, foreign languages, project management, and green belt practices enhance employability.
Alumni relations were also seen as a strength, with more than 600 graduates remaining active in the region, many of whom occupy leadership roles or have founded businesses that strengthen the local economy. Initiatives like the annual Job Zone forum have fostered valuable links between students and major Moroccan companies.
Entrepreneurship, partnerships and research
Entrepreneurship is deeply embedded in ISIAM’s identity. Its incubator, Boost Hub, supports around 50 projects annually with a success rate of 10%, generating more than 130 jobs in five years. Projects range from communication agencies to logistics firms, reflecting the practical orientation of ISIAM’s training. The school’s partnership with the University of Lorraine, centred on an Entrepreneurship Chair, and its structured collaborations with Agadir’s key business clusters were particularly commended.
The school also makes a significant contribution to the regional economy by effectively meeting skill needs and demonstrating great responsiveness to market changes. Its development is supported by a strong network of public and private partnerships, which strengthens its activities and ensures the sustainability of its initiatives.
Research activity contributes directly to regional development. The school’s two research teams, EREDD and ERPO, focus on entrepreneurship, sustainable development, and organisational performance. Their work on CSR, health management, and Agadir’s cultural heritage reinforces ISIAM’s role as a source of applied, locally relevant knowledge. Conferences such as Projectis and the Financial Engineering Colloquium have raised the school’s academic profile.
Promoting inclusivity, sustainability, and civic engagement
ISIAM places societal impact at the heart of its values, particularly through its commitment to ethics, responsibility, and social responsibility. These principles guide all the school’s programmes and activities, ensuring a lasting positive contribution to society. The BSIS review team noted its gender balance, inclusive environment with students from 17 nationalities, and engagement with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Environmental responsibility is practised through waste reduction, digitalisation, renewable energy use, and sustainable transport options. Students actively participate in community projects, from fundraising to post-earthquake relief, demonstrating a culture of civic responsibility.
The school’s reputation was found to be strong at both regional and national levels. Its founder and leadership team have built a brand over three decades that is associated with quality, credibility, and service to the Agadir region. The school’s visibility through events, social media, and partnerships, as well as its recognition by the Moroccan state, all contributed to this perception. Internationally, the BSIS label itself marks ISIAM’s first global accreditation, reflecting its intrinsic quality and dynamism.
The BSIS experts praised ISIAM’s infrastructure and facilities: a six-hectare campus within Agadir’s technopole featuring extensive library resources, sports complexes, a conference centre, and an incubator that serves as a hub for academic and entrepreneurial activity. They were also impressed by the professionalism of the ISIAM team, the high quality of its documentation, and the enthusiasm and engagement shown during the review process.
Overall, ISIAM was recognised as a vital regional institution that combines academic excellence, social engagement, and entrepreneurial dynamism. Its educational quality, community initiatives, and institutional reputation were central to the decision to award the BSIS label, affirming ISIAM’s position as a driver of economic and social progress in southern Morocco and beyond.
Habiba El Bardai, Dean, ISIAM Business School, commented:
“The BSIS process represented a major milestone for ISIAM Business School-Universiapolis in enhancing and recognising its role within its academic, economic, and social environment. This approach allowed us to measure, analyse, and highlight the real impact of our institution, not only on our local area in Agadir and Morocco but also internationally through our network of alumni and partners.
The evaluation was a unique opportunity to revisit our mission and further align our actions with the challenges of sustainable development, employability, and educational innovation.
Indeed, the BSIS process helped us structure our initiatives, objectively assess the positive outcomes of our programs, and tangibly demonstrate the added value we bring to our students, businesses, and society as a whole. It also enabled us to review and refine our strategy, aligning it more closely with our mission and development ambitions.
This recognition thus helps strengthen the credibility and attractiveness of ISIAM Business School – Universiapolis as a socially responsible institution, open to the world, and clearly focused on the future.
We are proud to join the community of schools that have obtained this label, and we will continue our efforts to increase our impact and meet the expectations of our ecosystem.
The BSIS process was a tremendous opportunity for ISIAM Business School-Universiapolis to concretely demonstrate its impact, both in Morocco and internationally. It allowed us to showcase our contributions in sustainable development, employability, and educational innovation, while reinforcing our positioning as a socially responsible and globally open institution.”
About BSIS
The Business School Impact System (BSIS) is the first comprehensive impact assessment tool for business schools, covering more than 130 indicators across seven dimensions of impact. It provides a tailor-made data collection system for monitoring, assessing, and developing the impact of business schools.
The BSIS process involves the definition of the impact zone and institutional scope, data collection, impact assessment, and the report with recommendations for future development. Demonstrating the school’s impact on internal and external stakeholders, the system serves as a communication and negotiation tool externally and fosters an impact culture within the school. Schools that undergo BSIS are awarded the BSIS Label for a three-year period.
- There are currently more than 90 schools across 25 countries that have received the BSIS label.
