Enhancing Master’s programmes with luxury
Business and management schools are no strangers to the world of luxury.
Some schools offer whole degrees focusing on it. Just look at ESSEC Business School, which offers a Master’s in Luxury Management; NEOMA Business School, which offers a double-degree International Master’s in Luxury Management in partnership with POLIMI Graduate School of Management; SDA Bocconi, which offers an Executive Master’s in Luxury Management; and the glittering list continues.
The Swiss Hotel Management School has recently announced a revision of its Master of Arts in International Hospitality Business Management (MA IHBM), introducing a new Luxury Brand Management direction designed to meet the evolving demands of the global luxury industries. Graduates of this pathway will be awarded an MA IHBM: Luxury Brand Management degree, explicitly qualifying them for leadership roles across the global luxury sector.
The original MA IHBM has also been revised with a more focused Hospitality Operations Management direction, allowing students to mix and match modules to better reflect their individual career aspirations and the evolving demands of the hospitality industry.
The teaching remains immersive, taking place in the authentic setting of a former Palace (pictured above) and combining theory with hands-on, industry-focused learning.
Students can choose between a 36-week on-campus programme or an intensive 18-week fast-track option, allowing them to progress at their own pace – whichever direction they pursue.
Both specialisations benefit from the Swiss Hotel Management School’s industry connections with more than 100 respected employers, including the Ritz-Carlton, Four Seasons, and Disney World. Figures show that 89 per cent of SHMS graduates hold management positions within five years.
Patrick Taffin d’Heursel, Dean of SHMS, says: “By partnering with industry leaders, SHMS delivers world-class programmes like this Master, empowering students with the skills to stand out and succeed. This is the essence of our core value: mastery.”
