DOBA Faculty of Applied Business and Social Studies Maribor

DOBA Faculty of Applied Business and Social Studies Maribor is fully accredited by the Slovenian Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (SQAA), a member of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA). As a private business school, DOBA offers accredited bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programmes in Slovene, Croatian, Serbian, and English.

These programmes are delivered entirely online and on a part-time basis. In the 2023-2024 academic year, nearly 2,000 students are enrolled, with about half coming from countries outside Slovenia. DOBA has fully integrated online learning into its institutional culture, viewing it as a standard practice. The school also values pedagogical innovation; since 2018, DOBA’s Institute for the Development of e-Learning has been researching ways to enhance its e-learning model, aiming to differentiate itself from other Slovenian universities that primarily use recorded lectures.

Mastering the curriculum

DOBA Faculty of Applied Business and Social Studies Maribor received commendation from the EOCCS team for its steadfast commitment to continuous improvement and its proactive approach to implementing recommendations from previous reviews. The institution demonstrates strategic clarity and boasts a robust management team. Noteworthy is their exceptional support for students, leveraging the high quality and motivation of their student body.

The Communications and Lobbying (C&L) course is an elective offered in several of DOBA’s master’s programs, including International Business Management, Management of Smart Cities, Marketing and Sales, Innovation Management in the Social and Education Sector, and Psychology.

The Research Methodology (RM) course, formerly known as Business Research Methods, is compulsory for the International Business Management, Management of Smart Cities, and Innovation Management in the Social and Education Sector master’s programs.

The Creative Human Resource Management for Competitive Advantages (CHRM) course is a first-year requirement for the International Innovative Business Management and Innovation Management in the Social and Education Sector programs.

The EOCCS review panel also noted that DOBA has made significant strides in utilising learning analytics and effectively implementing workload monitoring. The faculty also provides substantial support to its members through tailored training and individual guidance. Efforts to enhance interactivity in online courses through initiatives such as group work, discussions, and interactive webinars are commendable.

Upon receiving the award, the Dean of DOBA Business School, Prof. Dr. Boris Cizelj, commented:

“The renewal of the EOCCS certificate is a recognition of excellence for DOBA Faculty and its longstanding quality work in the field of online education.
