Barbara Sporn, EFMD Programme Accreditation Director, commented on the recent success: ‘I am delighted to welcome the University of St. Gallen and School of Business and Governance, Tallinn University of Technology to the pool of EFMD Accredited institutions. Both universities have proved tremendous professionalism and perseverance during these uncertain times. Sincere congratulations and we are looking forward to develop further and strengthen our cooperation in the near future.’

University of St. Gallen

The University of St. Gallen (HSG) is one of the institutions pre-selected to participate in the pilot phase of the EFMD Programme Accreditation process specifically for EQUIS accredited institutions that wish to gain or retain EFMD Programme Accreditation. The University was founded as a business academy in 1898 in Switzerland and nowadays consists of School of Management, Economics, Law, Social Sciences, International Affairs and Computer Science.

The PhD Programme in Management (PMA) is the most extensive doctoral programme in management in Europe and is organised by the School of Management. The curriculum offers four areas of specialisation: General Management, Marketing, Accounting and Business Innovation. A success factor of the University and its PhD programmes is the vital connection between academia and the world of practice, expressed by the University’s official brand promise: “From insight to impact”.

‘The University of St. Gallen is honoured to be one of the first EQUIS accredited schools to successfully participate in the new EFMD programme accreditation system and to receive one of the first EFMD Accredited – PhD labels in Europe. The preparatory work and peer review assessment of our PhD Programme in Management were comprehensive and engaging, providing a useful structure for a more common understanding of and dialogue on the programme’s strengths and development opportunities. The outside-in perspectives that the team of international experts provided will support the programme directors and the School of Management with continuing to develop the programme quality in selected areas and to more sharply define how we want to differentiate our position in the global doctoral education market,’ commented Bernhard Ehrenzeller, President, University of St. Gallen.

School of Business and Governance, Tallinn University of Technology

The School of Business and Governance (SBG) is part of the Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech), Estonia’s second-largest university. The University is a research institution and significant engineering, IT, and business education provider in Estonia.

The Bachelor Programme in International Business Administration (IBA) is a three-year full-time programme designed to cover broad knowledge and skills related to the various business fields (management, entrepreneurship, marketing, logistics, accounting and finance) and specific competencies such as data analysis, languages and communication skills. Four specializations in the programme provide the possibility to continue in different career and educational tracks.

‘TalTech School of Business and Governance is very proud to have its International Business Administration programme EFMD Accredited. International recognition of the quality of the programme and the support processes around it certifies the high level of work done during recent years not only by the programme’s team but also all people in the School. We were a pilot School going through the digital initial accreditation that showed the readiness for the process on both sides. The process towards the accreditation was a great experience of cooperation and collective self-reflection that will certainly help us to develop the School further institutionally as well,’ noted Enn Listra, Dean, School of Business and Governance, Tallinn University of Technology.
