Waseda Business School joins the pool of EQUIS accredited schools

Congratulations to the Waseda Business School, Waseda University, for now being part of 1 % of the EQUIS accredited leading business schools!

The Waseda Business School (WBS) is an excellent school of high standing at home but also with an increasing international reach and reputation. WBS was ranked first in Japan and 19th in the Asia-Pacific region by the 2018 QS Global MBA Rankings.

“We were impressed by the extent and quality of WBS’ corporate connections. WBS is fortunate to have such high-quality connections which enable it to bring business leaders into the School both as faculty members and partners in teaching, research and executive education.”

“Moreover, we would like to highlight the “Zemi” approach. A unique pedagogical approach that allows WBS to create strong relationships with its students and at the same time provides a great coaching/mentoring service to the students”, said Martin Schader, Quality Services Associate Director.

The Dean of Waseda Business School, Waseda University, Shigeru Asaba, shared his delight by saying: “Waseda Business School strives to become a truly international business school – one that brings diverse students from all over the world to learn together and helps Japanese businesses compete and thrive in an increasingly global market. This EQUIS accreditation has opened the gates for our School to move up to the next level in achieving this vision. We share the joy of this accomplishment with all of our stakeholders – our accreditation team, faculty, staff, students, alumni, International Advisory Board, corporate partners and our parent institution, Waseda University, whose contribution and support was instrumental in achieving this milestone.”

“Through this accreditation journey, we have learned first-hand that EQUIS is indeed not only a quality assessment process but a quality improvement process. EQUIS has allowed us to come together as a team, to reaffirm and take pride in our strengths, to acknowledge those areas we need to improve, and has given us the opportunity to reassess the School’s future direction. We owe a great deal to the EFMD team, especially, Eric Cornuel, Martin Schader, Ulrich Hommel, and the Peer Review Team. We would also like to give a special thanks to Japhet Law, our great EQUIS Advisor, for his tremendous support, patience and encouragement.”

There are currently no substitutes for such an in-depth assessment of quality. EQUIS has now accredited 182 schools across 44 countries. More information is available on efmdglobal.org/equis.
